Happy Halloween !

A card I made using My Digital Studio.
This is the first time I have used the freeform
painting feature in it (to color in the ghost).

A card made by repurposing packaging from an item
sold in Trader Joe's markets.
A pen pal"" friend from the east coast works in
one of those stores and made this for me =)

What a wet, dreary day it has been here again.
The forecast is not looking good
for trick or treating tonight, either.

Thank goodness for that pop of red from the fire bush.
Otherwise this is a depressing view........
one of the things I do not like about fall :(

Yep, it was a good day to stay in the craft dungeon
starting some holiday projects.

Thanks for looking and
Have a safe Halloween!

22nd Birthday Card

I think I am getting burned out on creating , I've been doing too much the past two months............
Time to take a break and do some much needed filling of photo albums I think. Or get busy making digital scrapbook pages to be printed ?  Or clean out the flower (weed!) beds around the house ? Or start Christmas cards and ornaments ?  Or process and post the few photos I snapped the other day as we were driving down the highway . . .   so much to do !

Nothing fancy at all......... I was at a loss as to what to make for my daughters birthday. I don't think she really cares about the card itself anyway, like most young people she is more concerned about what may be inside of the card (money!).

I used bright colors on this card with the intentions of sprinkling bright candy sprinkles on top of the white on white cupcakes she wanted for her birthday. Turned out , she did not want the sprinkles. So plain white on white cupcakes it was with a bright birthday card !

This is a 5" x 7" card

Stamp images retired from Stampin' Up!

Card stock, embossing powder, paper punches (except the cupcakes) also from Stampin' Up!

Red glitter glue

Ribbons, unknown

Yellow rhinestones were actually rhinestone Halloween "tattoos" I bought at a dollar store years ago and cut apart to use on the card

I'll be back to posting some of the 250 cards I made and donated to Operation Write Home starting tomorrow. I still have lots of them to share !!! I also need to work in a few photographs and digi scrap page posts. Then there is the die cut paper ornament I made over the weekend I want to share. . .  . Though for anyone that is a fan of Stampin' Up!, it is an idea from last year that many people were making and posting online. I however did not buy the supplies until this past summer. I finally used them this weekend - and decided that I don't think I will be making any more of them (at least not the number of them I had intended to make), whew did they take some time !

Prehistoric Party Birthday Card

Another fun, old image from Stampin' Up!

I made this for a nephew that celebrated a birthday recently.

He said he knew this card was from me
"because of these things here..."
as he was pointing to the stamped
noisemakers and pieces of cake on the envelope.

Images and inks from Stampin' Up!

It was water colored with inks from my classic ink pads
and an aquapainter.

Decorative paper, Die Cuts With A View stack

Thanks for looking =)

Repurposed Items=Cat Food Bowls

The plastic bowls from frozen food meals
make great pet food and water bowls!

I decided to jazz them up a bit by stamping
the pets' names on them with Stazon ink and rubber stamps.
Stamp images are long ago retired from Stampin' Up!

A great way to get some more use out of what would
have been trash.
We have no recycling available to us here
(just newspapers at a local school)
so I like to try to reuse things.

By the way , yes that is a stamped wall in the background !

Thanks for looking =)

Jack O' Lantern Fun Side Step Card

Another old stamp set from Stampin' Up! I put to use this year, Jack O 'Lantern Fun.

The pumpkin stamps were inked with Pumpkin Pie ink then the edges were rolled onto a Tangerine Tango ink pad to make the two tone stamped image. I cut them out after stamping.

Various paper punches for the leaves that were stamped with leaf images from the old Autumn stamp set, Stampin' Up!

Ink sponged over a home made cloud stencil for the sky.

A couple of grass rubber stamps from old Stampin' Up! sets with Always Artichoke and Garden Green inks.

I wanted to add some curly cues made from thins strips of car stock, but I knew they'd get squished and not look right when it was received.

Here is a link to a tutorial for the side step card.

I have two birthday cards to share the next couple of days then I will be back to sharing some more cards I made and sent to Operation Write Home. I will then post a few digital scrapbook pages in early November that I made as part of my Creative Team commitment. At some point I better start making holiday cards to send to family and friends !

Stitched Witch Side Step Halloween Card

This is a really, really old stamp set from Stampin' Up! - Stitched Witch. So cute !

The bats and saying are from another old SU! stamp set.

Images stamped with Basic Black permanent ink then water colored in with an aquapainter and the ink from my classic ink pads.

Fine point Sharpie to doodle along the edge of the witch panel.

Scissors to distress the edges of the orange card stock (there are distressing tools for this, I don't have one since I have always used the blade of a pair of scissors to do this).

Here is a link to the side step card tutorial,

I have another side step card to share tomorrow . Thanks for looking =)

First Frost

Brrrrrrr ! It got mighty chilly here overnight -
it was 25.5 degrees Fahrenheit when I woke up this morning.
The first hard freeze of the year.
I wandered around the yard and took a few photos.

6:05 AM

Sunrise over the front field.
This is the field that was full of water during
There was seven feet of water out there plus three
feet over the road.

Marigolds - so full of blooms now

Mums - they were just starting to fill out nicely

Hydrangea - it was still making new blooms !
Needless to say the new blooms (no photos)
were droopy this morning

Yes, those are blooms on the tomato plant !

And newly forming tomato (right side of photo).
The plants were still producing,
though I quit harvesting them.

I let the last of the tomato horn worms have at
the plants since it was the end of the season.
I'm not sure, but my guess is this one turned black
from the cold. I took this photo the other evening.

Fire bush

Daisy

Hosta

Daylilly

Canna

I thought it was neat how
the frost formed differently on
each of the plants.

I tried to catch what it sounds like
as the walnuts are falling from the tree
and hitting the steel roof -
something like gunshots !
They've been falling for a few weeks now,
here and there, but this morning it has been constant.
You'll hear thuds as they hit the ground and
a louder bang when they hit the steel roof.
Hyla kitten is freaked out from the loud noises.

The squirrels have will have plenty of food this year :
Walnuts covering the ground

Huge burr oak acorns also cover the ground.

A Haunting We Will Go Halloween Card

Oh, what an adorable old Halloween stamp set by Stampin' Up !

It was so much fun to color in using ink squished from my ink pads onto the inside of the ink pad lid and an aquapainter.

Scrap of orange / pumpkins decorative paper is from an unknown manufacturer.  I cut it into strips and mounted the strips onto Basic Black card stock. I should have added a ribbon or brads, something else ..... but I wanted it to be mail friendly.

Thanks for looking and stop back by tomorrow to see another card I made with this same image  =)

A Haunting We Will Go Halloween Swing Card

Taking a short break from posting some of the 250 cards I made and donated to Operation Write Home recently to share the Halloween cards I made this year. All of them were made with really old stamp images from Stampin' Up!

This is an image from the old A Haunting We Will Go stamp set by Stampin' Up! The image is colored with inks from my  classic ink pads and an aquapainter.

Here is a link to a swing card tutorial,
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/swing_flip_flop_card/

The HEE HEE HEE image is from Stitched Witch and the stars/moons image is from Halloween Backgrounds set, both of which were also from Stampin' Up!   Best Witches is from Bats About You, Stampin' Up! - all stamp sets are long ago retired.

Pumpkin Pie, Lovely Lilac, Basic Black, Whipser White card stocks

Purple rick rack, unknown

I hand made the swing part of the card, stamping and cutting the image first. After I had that piece complete, I knew how big to make the base portion of the swing area. I measured it out, drew light pencil lines then cut it out with and Xacto blade along a metal edge ruler. I use  this method to create different shape swinging portions, too, such as the star on this patriotic card .

Die cut shape made with thinlits die
from Stampin' Up!

Unknown manufacturer, decorative paper.

Martha Stewart fern (?) punch.

1/4" circle punch

Gumball Green ink, Stampin' Up!
